Tometich Engineering, Inc is a small Structural Engineering firm in Urbandale, IA. As a small collaborative centered firm, we emphasize teamwork, problem solving and effective communication. Although engineering similar projects builds experience and efficiency, our engineers have opportunities to also experience a variety of projects beyond their focus area. Our expertise is structural design for vertical structures. We provide design solutions for all types of building materials and building systems. (Steel, Concrete, Wood, CMU and more). Our project types include multi-story and multi-use commercial buildings, industrial, educational, residential, and some single-family use. Tometich Engineering also has a structural investigation element as well as construction engineering.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Professional Engineer (5 years minimum experience)
$70,000 – $89,000 / Year
Duties
– Design and analyze structures using engineering calculations, software, and tools for gravity and wind loads (earthquake when needed)
– Prepare calculations and specifications for projects
– Starts CAD drawings or markup drawings for drafters (AutoCAD & Revit)
– Collaborate with architects, contractors, owners and other professionals on project design needs.
– Conduct site visits to assess existing structures and provide recommendations for repairs or modifications
– Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
– Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines
– 5 Years of Experience in Structural Engineering (building design)
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field – Professional Engineer (PE) license (ability to be licensed in Iowa)
– Strong technical skills for preparing reports and documentation
– Knowledge of drafting principles and practices
– Revit Experience is a plus
– Strong communication skills
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
– Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
– Attention to detail and accuracy
Engineer-in-Training (0-5 years experience, EIT Certification required)
$50,000-$75,000 / Year
Duties:
– Design and analyze structures using engineering calculations, software, and tools for gravity and wind loads (earthquake when needed)
– Prepare calculations and specifications for projects under the supervision of a licensed Engineer
– Starts CAD drawings or markup drawings for drafters (AutoCAD & Revit)
– Collaborate with engineers in the office or contractors, and other professionals on project design needs.
– Assist in site visits to assess existing structures and provide recommendations for repairs or modifications
– Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
– Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines
– Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
– EIT status or taking the PE exam soon
– Strong technical skills for preparing drawings and calculations
– Strong communication skills
– Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

– Previous construction experience
